Begin Your Intake Screening Inquiry
Whether you carry questions about medications, health history, or simply feel called to ceremony and want to understand where to begin — this page is for you.
Our intake screening team is here to help you discern whether sacred ceremony with Earth Connection Community is the right path for you at this time. Reach out. We would rather you ask than wonder.
About Our Intake Screening Process
Our intake screening serves two purposes: spiritual alignment and contraindication review. Both matter deeply.
Spiritual Alignment
Sacred ceremony at Earth Connection Community is rooted in sincere religious practice. Ayahuasca is our sacrament, received in prayer and ceremony. Every participant must be able to affirm, in good conscience, that they are coming to ceremony with a genuine spiritual intention.
The screening process helps us understand your path. We want to know what brings you here, what you are seeking spiritually, and whether our community and our ceremony are the right container for your journey.
Contraindication Review
Certain medications and health conditions carry known risks when combined with ayahuasca. The most serious interactions involve MAOIs, SSRIs, and other antidepressants — a topic we cover in depth in our guide to ayahuasca and antidepressants.
Our screening team will ask about your current medications and health history so we can give you honest, straightforward guidance about whether ceremony is appropriate for you and, if so, what conditions would need to be met.
Important: Our intake screening team does not provide medical advice. If you are currently taking prescription medications, any decision about adjusting your medications must be made in consultation with your own healthcare provider. Earth Connection Community does not instruct participants to stop or alter their medications.
What Happens After You Reach Out
Here is what to expect when you submit an inquiry:
-
1
Initial response (2–4 business days). Our screening coordinator will review your inquiry and send a response with next steps. Please check your spam folder if you do not hear back within a week.
-
2
Intake questionnaire. You will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire about your spiritual background, intentions, and health history. Honest, thorough answers help us serve you well.
-
3
Screening conversation (when needed). For more complex situations — particularly those involving current or recent medication use — we may schedule a brief call to discuss your circumstances more fully.
-
4
Decision. We will let you know whether we believe ceremony is a good fit for you at this time, and why. If it is not, we will tell you what would need to change before we could reconsider.
Not everyone who inquires will be cleared for ceremony. We take contraindication screening seriously, and we will always prioritize your wellbeing over filling ceremony seats.

Common Questions About Our Screening Process
I am currently taking antidepressants. Should I still reach out?
Yes — please do. Many people come to us with exactly this question. The answer is complex and varies by medication, dosage, and how long you have been taking it. Reach out and share your situation. We will help you understand whether and when ceremony may be appropriate for you. Any decision about your medications must involve your prescribing provider.
How long does the screening process take?
Most inquiries are reviewed within 2–4 business days. Cases involving medication questions may take a little longer as we discuss your situation with our screening coordinator.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. Everything you share during intake screening is treated with complete confidentiality and shared only with the members of our team who need to review your case.
Can I attend if I have never done ceremony before?
Yes. Most of our participants are first-time ceremony participants. You do not need prior experience — you need sincere spiritual intention and a willingness to engage honestly in the screening process.
What if I am not cleared for ceremony?
We will tell you why, and in most cases, we will tell you what would need to change before we could reconsider. Being declined at this time is not a permanent judgment — it often reflects where you are in your health or spiritual journey right now.
Do I need to have a specific spiritual background?
No. Earth Connection Community welcomes people from all spiritual and religious backgrounds. What we ask is that your intention for attending ceremony is genuinely spiritual in nature — that you are seeking reconnection, healing of relationship with the divine, or deepening of your spiritual path — rather than purely therapeutic, recreational, or curious in a secular sense.
A Note for Those Who Arrived From Our Antidepressants Guide
If you came here from our guide on ayahuasca and antidepressants, you already understand that SSRI and MAOI interactions with ayahuasca are serious and require careful attention.
We want to say this plainly: we do not advise anyone to stop taking prescribed medications in order to attend ceremony. That decision belongs to you and your healthcare provider — not to us. What we can do is have an honest, caring conversation about your specific situation and help you understand what your options may be.
If you are wondering whether there is a path forward for you, please ask. This is exactly what our intake screening conversation is for.
Earth Connection Community is a spiritual community in the Shipibo tradition. Participation in our ayahuasca ceremonies requires sincere affirmation of spiritual purpose. Our ceremonies are conducted under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).
